Meet the Team

  • Matt Johnson

    Matt has been working for Varsity Yearbook for 3 years. Before that, he taught yearbook and photography for 13 years.

  • Jen Johnson

    Jen has been working for Varsity Yearbook for over 3 years and specializes in keeping her schools profitable and on budget.

  • Makena Busch

    Makena Busch, CJE, advises the Pantera yearbook at Mead HS in Spokane, WA, where she teaches digital media, graphic design, and yearbook. JEA named Busch a Rising Star in 2019, a Special Recognition Adviser in 2021, and a Distinguished Adviser in 2023.

    Her yearbooks have earned several state and national awards including a CSPA Gold Crown, NSPA Pacemaker, and Best of Show award. Busch is crazy enough to coach track in the spring, thinks coffee runs through her veins at this point, and isn’t afraid to tell you the cringest dad jokes she knows.

  • Justin Daigle

    Justin Daigle, MJE, advises the Reflections yearbook at Brighton High School in Colorado. Over the last 18 years, his students’ publications have earned state and national awards including CSPA Gold and Silver Crowns and NSPA Pacemakers, and NSPA Best of Show trophies. Daigle has been honored with the 2009 Colorado Student Media Association (CSMA) Teacher of the Year as well as JEA Rising Star in 2010, Special Recognition (2014) and Distinguished (2016) Yearbook Adviser of the Year, and Medal of Merit (2022). CSPA honored him with the Gold Key in 2020. Daigle is the current JEA Vice President.
